He at the age of 96 years, relinquished his office on 29th December 2003. On the request of the trustees of Birla Institute of Medical Research, he had consented to continue as “chairman Emeritus”. He continued to shower his valuable and benevolent advice on the college and remained a guiding force till his soul departed on heavenly abode on, 30th May 2005.
