School of Management Sciences Varanasi, popularly known as SMS Varanasi, was established in 1995. Located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, SMS Varanasi is a private institute. It is a UGC-recognised institute and has also been granted autonomous status by the UGC. The NAAC has accredited SMS Varanasi with Grade 'A'. The institute is affiliated with the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith University, further, the MBA and MCA programmes offered by the institute are affiliated with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam University (AKTU), Lucknow. SMS Varanasi MBA and MCA programmes are also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
SMS Varanasi has received appreciation and recognition from several institutions and professional bodies. The Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) has awarded it the title of ‘Best B School’ in North India. Moreover, Business India Group has placed it among the top 50 Business Schools in India in 2017. It is a member of various esteemed professional bodies including ASSOCHAM, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Eastern UP Exporters Association, and the Varanasi Management Association, among others. Additionally, the institute has signed MoUs with international institutions such as Karolay Robert College (KRF), Hungary, City University Malaysia, EMPORIA STATE UNIVERSITY, USA, CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, USA, and others.
