The importance of holistic education based on five aspects. The five elements or the Panchabhootas are the aspects which sustains mankind as well as this universe. Balance of these elements keep our universe balanced, peaceful and calm. In the same manner these elements need to be balanced in every child or individual for leading a happy and successful life.

Earth, represents concepts as solid as earth. Solids have definite form which gives clarity. Every child should have clarity of any concept and it is based on confidence and courage. Being strong, confident and balanced helps one to be steadfast on the path of growth.

Water, attitude like water. Water takes the shape of the container. Flexible, positive and right attitude helps a child to achieve happiness and success in life. Having right attitude to everyone and at all times will lead one to greater heights. It is also associated with humbleness or an egoless state which helps one to accept and adjust well in life. Water is so strong with the power of creation and destruction. Attitude decides the altitude. An open mind is flexible like water. Keeping an open mind helps one to grow with right information.

Fire, associated with creativity or imagination is an integral element of purification, it is essential for the growth of a child. It brings out the pure potential within any child. Any seeker has a burning desire, which keeps pushing one forward. External fire dies out but internal fire keeps one moving ahead with commitment and dedication, Keep the fire within burning always.

Air, the very element for our sustenance is connected with information. One who has the right information is blessed, wealthy and rich whereas one who is ignorant is like a vegetable. Having right information is very important. Air is everywhere but if there is no pure air, what happens? in the same way today we are bombarded with plenty of information. Taking only what is right and what is required is important. Right Information at the right time leads to successful living.

Aakash (Ether/Space), is like freedom. It is vast and infinite. Freedom is unlimited, but the knowledge how to use this freedom properly leads us to the right and purposeful living. Right usage of the space with mutual respect will lead to peaceful living.

All these five elements are within us and around us. Nurturing these elements within us and connecting these elements within to the environment makes a child happy and successful. Balancing these elements leads to joyful living. Holistic education aims at activating and balancing these innate elements in each and every child. When the innate potential is awakened and connected with the universal elements then the child blossoms into an unlimited being.
