Knowledge is Power - Bala Vidya Mandir, as the name suggests, is a temple of learning where knowledge is renewed with time and disseminated equally to all who step into it. It is an abode where every mind is given the freedom to apply the knowledge gained to understand and find solutions to address challenges of life.

The school which was started under the aegis of Smt. Savithri, Smt. Rukmini and Smt. Balam in the 1950s traversed the domains of education for decades until the year 2015 when it witnessed a period of transformation in the organizational structure and its functioning.

The management under the leadership of Mr. C.K. Ranganathan, Secretary; Mr. C.S. Ram, President and Ms. Aruna R. Treasurer, along with the effective participation of other members of the Bala Brindavan Society, members of the School Managing Committee and members of the Parent Teacher Association demonstrated an unprecedented and united resolve to take the school to greater heights of excellence by expanding the frontiers of knowledge and promoting creative skill sets amongst students to make them self-confident and competitive in every walk of life.

A giant leap was thus taken through the introduction of ‘Life Oriented Education’ – the first of its kind bringing about a paradigm shift in the operation of the school. Under this scope, Culinary skills, Chess, Fitness, Global Rhythm, Young Entrepreneurship, Yoga, Instrumental Music and Dance, Theatre, Robotics and Art are taught by experts to promote holistic and lateral development of skills in students. By engaging in these activities, students learn to identify their interests at an early age and pursue their passion with focus, thus enjoying the finer aspects of life in the process. Bala Vidya Mandir prides itself on fostering this unique experience in its students to excel and become global citizens.

The teaching-learning methodology practised at Bala Vidya Mandir has stood the test of time. A forerunner in the introduction of skill-based learning, the school has already tread the path of promoting conceptualized learning directed towards all round development of students. Today, the school under the august leadership of Former Justice Kannan the President; Dr. D. K. Hari , the Secretary and Ms. Janaki Pillai, the Treasurer is witnessing a plethora of changes directed towards the development of the school. Propelled by the rapid strides made in recent times especially in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, a key feature of the school’s endeavour has been to usher in a new era of education by connecting with eminent resource persons especially from the IT world and faculty from renowned Universities both Indian and international. Consequently, a slew of projects has been introduced with a clear-cut vision to release the inner potential of students by enabling them to work in an environment of collective endeavour, thus promoting a sense of community participation in finding solutions to problems found in society. Sessions on Financial Literacy, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Higher Education linked Project-Based Learning are a regular feature of the school’s curriculum especially designed to foster amongst students a sense of responsibility to tackle and find solutions to problems of day to day life.

The school on the path towards its zenith today, has created a niche in society with its dynamic approach towards evolving itself to cater to the far-reaching global needs in addition to retaining the roots of its traditional values.
