Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, formerly known as Amrita University, was established in 1994 and is a private deemed-to-be-university of notable distinction located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary university that encompasses six campuses and 15 constituent schools throughout southern India. As of 2024, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is ranked 7th by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in the Universities category.
In 2003, it became one of the youngest institutions to attain deemed university status, conferred by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Coimbatore campus has been accredited with an 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) since 2009. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham offers over 200 undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, as well as integrated degrees, dual degrees, and certifications in various fields, including Engineering, Business, Medicine, Arts and Sciences, Biotechnology, Mass Communication, and Social Work.
