The Government Law College, located in Dharmapuri, is affiliated to “The Tamilnadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University Chennai”, run by the Government of Tamilnadu is an institution of legal education. It is the only Law College established in the North-western part of Tamilnadu, out of the proposed three law colleges, as per G.O. No. 230 of 2017 dated 25.05.2017. Law (Legal Studies) Department Dr. P. Sivathas of Coimbatore Government Law College was deputed as Special Officer for establishing the law college at Dharmapuri.
The objective of the college is to run a Five Year Integrated Professional Law Course B.A.LL.B., and Three Year Law Course LL.B., to serve as an institution with advanced legal studies. Presently, the college is housed in its temporary campus near Dharmapuri Bus Stand and the permanent campus under construction is at Baizuhalli Village, Karimanglam. It has a total area of 7.75 acres including a separate land for hostel. By situated in an aesthetic location of Dharmapuri the college serves the educational needs of the students who are passion towards law. The district enjoys a diversified economic base. Currently, the district consists of one Government Medical college, a Government Engineering college and ample number of Government polytechnics. The student body is culturally diverse with a population.
