B.P.S. Mahila Vishwavidyalaya is a State University established by an Act of Haryana Legislature and recognised under sections 2 (F) & 12 (B) of UGC. It was established by Bhagat Phool Singh as a Gurukul, exclusively for girls at Khan pur Kalan in 1936. Bhagat Phool Singh was a Patwari (revenue collector) who turned a social reformer under the transforming influence of Arya Samaj. It was then known as Mahasabha Gurukul Vidyapeeth, Kanya Gurukul. In August 2006, it was upgraded the status of a University and was subsequently named Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya (BSMV). The University is spread over 500 acres of land which, houses various teaching departments, constituent colleges, two schools out of which one is a traditional Gurukul offering Hindi medium and the other is Campus School offering English medium; Administrative Block, Academic Staff College; Learning Resource Centre; Hostels & Faculty Houses. The university has a fully developed South Campus at Bhainswal Kalan developed into the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Logo of the University shows women radiating energy and life.
