The history of IITM Madhya Pradesh refers to Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (ABV-IIITM) Gwalior, which was conceived in 1992 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education) and began in 2002 as IIITM to address regional technical manpower needs. It was renamed in 2002 to honor Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and gained status as an Institute of National Importance
