L.D. College of Engineering (LDCE), Ahmedabad, was established on June 20, 1948, as one of the first engineering colleges in India. It was founded by Kasturbhai Lalbhai, who named it after his father, Lalbhai Dalpatbhai. The college initially offered three undergraduate courses: Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical Engineering. It was first affiliated with Bombay University and later became part of Gujarat University in 1949.
