Varadaraja" - This institute is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Varadaraja, the late father of Dr. Durgadas Asranna (Director). Dr. Varadaraja was a towering symbol in the field of medicine and teaching profession. His mission of imparting excellence in education is the main force behind the Varadaraja Institute of Nursing Science.Dr. Durgadas Asranna himself is a well-known practicing obstetrician and gynecologist of Tumkur, known for his leadership,dynamism and philanthropic activities. It was in the year 1992 that he started a small 5-bedded hospital which has now blossomed into the multi-specialty 150-bedded Kasturba Hospital in the heart of the city.The acute shortage of good quality nurses prompted him to set up Varadaraja Institute of Nursing Sciences with the sole intention of providing competant nurses for the benefit of the society at large. He has ensured that theory classes are taught by a dedicated set of internal and external faculty, backed by excellant clinical exposure, Varadaraja Institute Of Nursing Sciences is producing nurses of international standards year after year.
