Deepalaya as an educational pursuit was established on July 16, 1979, with five children, two teachers and an investment of Rs. 17,500/- by the seven like minded visionaries, who are the founder members. Pre-school education was the beginning then. Deepalaya School has come a long way since then.Deepalaya, "the abode of light" is the largest operational NGO in Delhi, which is providing quality education, vocational training, for the economically marginalized children, their families, and communities of Delhi, as well as in some rural areas of Haryana and Uttarakand. Deepalaya has established 337 formal and non-formal educational centers. It has four formal schools in Delhi,
one in Hariyana and one in Uttar Pradesh. DSKE is one of them.
