Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kozhikode is a Co-educational Residential Institution governed by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti,an autonomous body under Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.The vidyalaya was established in the year 1987-’88 and started functioning from a temporary site ,adjacent to Maniyoor Government School.The vidyalaya shifted to its permanent site in the year 2000-’01.The vidyalaya is situated in 28 acres of land which was given free of cost by the state government. It has completed 30 years of robust, vibrant and holistic school education. The National Policy on Education 1986 envisages establishment of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in each district of the Country. This is a unique experiment unparalleled in the annals of School Education in India and elsewhere. The basic objectives of these Vidyalayas are to provide access to quality education to the children especially from rural areas.
The vidyalaya commits itself to provide a stress-free environment for learning that will develop competent,confident and enterprising citizens who will promote peace and harmony.
