Nestled among the serene lush green hills and valleys of Kakkanad, lies the Mar Thoma Public School. The School endeavours to combine traditional values with modernity in education in a calm ambience that is conducive to learning. The proximity to the IT hub, while being an advantage, doesn’t impair the beauty of the natural surroundings of the School.The formation of the School in 1990, was the outcome of the meeting of a group of visionaries who dared to dream. The robust structure of the School stands as a testimony to the relentless effort made by the Founders of this School.The Mar Thoma Educational Society (MTES) was formed after many discussions initiated by the Marthomites of the Ernakulam Centre. Around 60 members from Ernakulam formed the Society and it was decided that the society would start an educational institution under the banner of the Mar Thoma Public School.His Grace Late Rt. Rev. Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus Episcopa met the members and decided to form a Board to work on the establishment of the Mar Thoma Public School (MTPS).The General Body convened an election and 13 members with Very Rev. P. T.Thomas, Vicar of Salem Mar Thoma Church, Ernakulam, as President, of MTES to form the first Board of Directors. On 7th June 1990,the School Office was inaugurated under the auspices of Thirumeni.
