St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church in Gudalur initiated St. Thomas Primary School in Mar Thoma Nagar in 1954. This school began as a Malayalam-medium institution to serve the local populace in Gudalur, predominantly comprising individuals from various districts of Kerala. The school received assistance from the Education Department of Tamil Nadu. In 1966, due to the growing student population, the primary school was upgraded to a middle school, making it eligible for continued government aid.
In 1988, under the leadership of the late Mr. V.M. Chacko, who was the Headmaster at the time, further elevated to high school status. Consequently, the school was divided into two divisions: St. Thomas Aided Primary School (Std I to Std V), led by a headmistress, and St. Thomas Aided High School (Std VI-X), led by a headmaster. Both divisions continued to receive government assistance. Since its establishment in 1954, the Vicar of St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, Gudalur, has served as the correspondent. These schools have operated within the same campus at Mar Thoma Nagar in Gudalur and continue to do so.
