Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) are residential schools in India, established to provide quality education to girls from disadvantaged communities, particularly those from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and minority communities. These schools are located in educationally backward blocks where female literacy is low and the gender gap in education is high. The scheme aims to bridge the educational gap and empower girls through free education, boarding, and other facilities.
