St. Thomas College, Thrissur, was founded in 1889 by Rt. Rev. Adolphus Edwin Medlycott, the first Vicar Apostolic of Thrissur. Initially established as a lower secondary school, it evolved into a high school in 1894. In April 1919, the institution was formally recognized as a Second Grade College by the University of Madras, marking its transition into higher education. By March 1925, it attained First Grade College status, becoming the second non-government college in Kerala to achieve this distinction .
