They are the reason for the improved economy in the country as well as society. The women's education in ancient India was quite good but in the middle age, it deteriorated because of many restrictions against women. Sri Bharathi Engineering College for Women is the first Engineering College started only for women in Pudukkottai District. This college was seeded by Sri Bharathi Educational Trust in the year 2009 with five B.E/B.Tech courses to inculcate quality education for rural women. This institute is located on the outskirts of Pudukkottai, about 6 kilometers from Pudukkottai and almost in a rural atmosphere.
