Rajeev Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), or Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, was established in 1998 by an act of the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha to serve as a technical education center. The University Institute of Technology (UIT), formerly the Government Engineering College (GEC) Bhopal, was established in 1986 and was later declared autonomous and renamed in 1998. RGPV has grown into an affiliating, research, and multi-campus university, offering a range of diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in engineering, technology, pharmacy, and management.
