KLEF (Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation) established Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering in the year 1980 affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University. It was founded by the late Sri Koneru Lakshmaiah and Sri K.Satyanarayana at Vaddeswaram. It was renamed Koneru Lakshmaiah University. The college became autonomous in the year 2006 and from 2009 onwards it has become Deemed to be University. It is the only Engineering Institute in the state of Andhra Pradesh permitted by AICTE to admit Foreign Nationals. It has a Flexible Academic system where students can do courses in specialized streams as per their choice leading to major, minor and dual degree programs. The Faculty of the Institute, numbering 375+, out of which 78 are doctorates and 150+ are pursuing their Ph.D. is one of the best in any Engineering Institute. The Institute is a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) which gives an edge to it in the Industry - Institution interaction. The Institute has achieved 100% placements in 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 and progressed towards 100% during 2008-09. Many companies have established Virtual Industry on campus which allows the students of the Institute to do the projects of the Industry within the campus. The Institute has a strong Industrial Relations and Placements Department with offices in various cities in India. It looks after the Industry Institution Interaction and placements. 84 laboratories of various Departments to perform 107 different lab activities. The Institute also offers Bridge Courses to students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds to make them competent to take up the various courses on par with other students. The Institute has signed MOUs with Various National and Multinational Industries which helps the students to visit the Industries and get practical experience.
