Andhra University is a government university located in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The University comes under the category of a Public University, established in 1926. It was the first university that was accepted as a teaching-cum-affiliating and residential university in India. Andhra University offers a wide array of UG and PG-level programmes in the fields of Science, Engineering, Arts, Commerce, Pharmacy, Law and education.
The university has five constituent colleges under its affiliation located in Kakinada (East Godavari District), Etcherla,- Tadepalli Gudem, Vizianagram and Visakhapatnam. Although the main campus is located in Vishakhapatnam. Andhra University is ranked 25 (in the University category) and 41 (in the Overall category) by the NIRF Rankings 2024. Moreover, the university has been accredited by the NAAC with ‘A’ grade and is also recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC)
