About

Established in 1945 as the Adyar Film Institute, it is Asia’s first film and television institute. Renamed in 2006 after actor and politician M.G. Ramachandran, the institute is operated by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

It provides diploma and degree programs in disciplines such as direction, cinematography, editing, sound engineering, and screenplay writing. Its alumni have made notable contributions to Indian cinema and media.
