Lalit Narayan Mithila University was established in 1972 in Darbhanga, Bihar, and later named after Lalit Narayan Mishra, a respected political leader. It was formed to serve the higher education needs of the Mithila region and has since developed into a large public university.
The university offers UG and PG courses in humanities, science, commerce, medicine, and law. It manages several constituent and affiliated colleges and has contributed significantly to education and cultural heritage in Bihar.
