SRM University Kattankulathur Campus is a ‘deemed to be university’. It was set up in 1985 in Kanchipuram, 40 km away from Chennai. It got deemed to have university status in the year 2002. The university has five campuses in the state of Tamil Nadu, and SRM KTR Campus is the main campus. It was accredited by NAAC with the highest A++ grade in 2018. It offers NBA-accredited courses at the UG level. It is also ranked 2nd among private/self-financed universities in the ARIIA Rankings 2020. As per the most recent NIRF rankings for 2022, this institute ranked 36th in the overall category, 24th in engineering, and 12th in pharmacy. The university has UG and PG programs in many fields, like management, agriculture, and health sciences. It also has provisions for distance education for students who cannot come to campus. It also has a centre that gives certificate courses in performing arts like vocal music. SRM is in collaboration with Trinity College of Music, London, and gives training in western classical music. The campus also has a nanotechnology cell where students can do research in this field. For advanced research, they have developed an earthquake cell. This cell has international collaboration with Taiwan and Thailand. They also have a centre of Statistics. The University has an internal assurance quality cell that makes sure that all the academic and administrative work is done on time. SRM Kattankulathur admits students from other countries during the first-year intake. Exchange programs are also there where students get admission in the middle. More than 700 international students studied on the campus. It has also collaborated with 60+ international institutions, and more than 32,000 international publications have been published.
