The Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences (TIT&S) in Bhiwani, Haryana, was established in 1943 by Padma Vibhushan Dr. Ghanshyam Das Birla and Pushkar D. Makharia under the Birla Education Trust. Initially affiliated with the Department of Industrial Training, Punjab, for a diploma course, it later became independent and was renamed to reflect its expanded scope
