Founded by Kulapati Dr. K. M. Munshi, on 7th November 1938, with the blessings and support of Mahatma Gandhi, Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan has grown from its humble beginnings to a comprehensive, global, intellectual, cultural and educational body of excellence. During the seventy seven years of its existence, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan came to be recognized as a symbol of Indias glorious past .
